Arthur Henry Leonhardt

NOTE 1: Henry and Louie had only one child (my father), Arthur Henry Leonhardt, always known as Dick except to his parents, uncles and aunts (b.1908 in Clapham, d. 1999 in Eastcote, Middlesex).
He married in Ealing 1936 Evelyn Mary Hunt, always known as Molly, even to her parents (b.1910 in Tottenham, Middlesex (North London) d. 1982 when her home address was Eastcote). She was the 4th of 6 children of Henry Holmes Hunt and Alice Sophia Saunders, originally of Ilminster and Taunton respectively, Somerset, who had moved up to London. Henry and Alice lived at Tottenham, then Acton, Middlesex, then Ealing, Middlesex.

NOTE 2: Henry set up a business with a partner, Mr. Bush, as Bush, Hunt and Co., Ladies' Shirt Manufacturers, with a factory in Old Street, London EC1. They made shirts for women's uniformed organisations such as the armed forces and the Girl Guides. Arthur Henry Leonhardt worked in the Motor Licensing department of the Middlesex County Council (later becoming part of London County Council). He served in the Royal Navy in World War II.

NOTE 3: Molly and Dick (as my parents were known) from their marriage always lived in Eastcote, Middlesex and had 3 children.
1. Myself, John Anthony Henry Leonhardt (b.20th April 1937 at a maternity home in Ealing)
I married in Wandsworth Common, South London (ex-Surrey) on 25th August 1973 Julie Winifred Miller (b. 8th July 1937 at Hoylake, Cheshire), 1st of 3 children of Frederick Jack Miller, known as Patch, and Josephine Mary Miller, known as Josie (Born Josephine Mary Miller of another Miller family unrelated to her husband).
Frederick worked as a Civil Servant in London (except for a short while in Cheshire). Frederick and Josephine lived In Wandsworth Common for most of their married life.
I lived in Eastcote until my first teaching job, in March, which was then in the County of Isle of Ely, later Cambridgeshire. Then I taught in Masasi, Tanzania.
Then returned to Eastcote until my marriage. Julie and I then lived in Watford, Herts, and then in Little Gaddesden near Berkhamsted, Herts, where we remain.
Julie worked as a nurse, then as a nurse tutor in Tanzania, then as a nurse back in England, both before and after our marriage.


Evelyn Mary Hunt
