NOTE 2: Received over the Internet on 17 Mar 2006. This is regarding the two daughters and son of William Reece and Elizabeth. "Hello from Queensland, I have noticed that you have the names Sarah and Susannah REECE in one of your lists - sisters of William REECE - of Strensham, Herefordshire.
I believe I have some interesting information on these sisters. In 1843, they were living in a cottage occupied by a William WARREN (Miller, of Strensham). On the night of 12 Feb. 1843 two lads broke into the cottage, one of whom attacked the miller, William Warren. Both boys were accused of stealing from Wm. Warren. One of the items stolen was a handkerchief hemmed by Sarah REECE. One of the intruders (not the attacker), was my great-grandfather, James WHITCOMBE, aged 16. The other (the attacker) was Thomas GARDNER aged 17. Both were sentenced to "Transportation for Life". James Whitcombe was sent to Tasmania. I don't know what happened to Thomas GARDNER. Full details of the trial are in the Berrows Journal of 10th March, 1843. Just thought you might be interested. Best Wishes Ann Doyle." I do have a copy of that journal and papers of the trial.
